From the moment we arrived, it was obvious that the Israel My Way team, and the owner Yoav, were working silently in the background together to make sure our arrival went smoothly and all was going according to plan. I never had to worry about getting from point a to point b as the logistics were seamlessly coordinated. But this was just the beginning... Our guides, Rona and Ari were top notch. Not only do they have profound knowledge of their country's history and culture, it's clear they know people. By the end of our time with them, we felt like old friends. Further, their ability to adapt, pivot and design our days specifically to our interests was impressive. They spoke with passion and we were hanging on to every word. We were interested in all three religions, politics, culture and of course, food! They were easily able to share history from the perspective of the three religions, discuss Israeli politics openly, and there was no question we couldn't ask. We learned so much about the people of Israel! My time in the Old City was profound and emotional, and no doubt, without Rona I would have been lost, and it would have been an empty experience. After walking an educational and inspiring tour through the Four Quarter of the Old City, including the Wailing Wall, we visited the famous Church of the Holy Sepulchre which is considered to be the holiest site by Christians, and where Jesus was crucified, buried and rose from the dead. Afterwards, Rona took me to the Jerusalem food market where we strolled the stalls together, tasting Israeli delicacies and learning about the food. Our day was topped off with a stop at the famous restaurant, Machneyuda for a lunch and wine, and to experience the vibrant and joyful people of Israel, celebrating a day in the life. It was magic. In Tel Aviv, we wanted to see what locals see, but also with a mix of history and food! Ari took us on a walking tour along the beach in Tel Aviv, through Jaffa, The American Colony, the Florentin neighbourhood that is painted with street art and known for workshops. Finally, we ended our tour at the Carmel food market where we learned about Israeli agriculture and ate Israeli schnitzel! We couldn't have asked for a better day, and truly loved our time with Ari. This was a deeply impactful/bucket list trip and I can't wait to go back to explore more of this beautiful country!
